Vestavia Hills Baseball Upcoming 8th Grade Baseball Tryouts May 14 – 15, 2017

*** These tryouts are for those that are currently in the 7th grade at Pizitz Middle School and Liberty Park Middle School. These student athletes will be starting high school in the fall of 2018 ***

1. Each player trying out must have the following filled out before the first day of tryouts.

(1) Current Physical on file. (VHHS offers physicals in early May)

(2) Concussion Information Form on file.

(3) Insurance Form. **

All paperwork will be brought to the middle schools in April. Completed paperwork should be returned to the high school to Coach Harris before May 9th, 2017. From that paperwork a master list of who will be trying out will be finalized before the start of tryouts on May 14th, 2017 **

2. Tryout times: Sunday 5/14 – 4:30-6:30 Monday 5/15 – 7:00-8:30

*** We are only planning on keeping a few 8th graders on the freshman team. ***

*** If your son is not selected to play up as an 8th grader this DOES NOT mean that he will not make the team as a 9th grader. ***

*** This evaluation will give us an idea of what we have coming up through the middle schools and should not in any way discourage your son. ***

3. Players should arrive at the field no later than 30 minutes prior to the start time and should be stretched, loose, and ready for tryouts at 4:30 on Sunday and 7:00 on Monday.

4. Players should wear baseball pants, a Vestavia shirt, baseball spikes, and a baseball hat. Players should also bring turf/tennis shoes to hit inside the cage and their glove. Players can bring their own bat but do not need their own batting helmet. Catchers may bring their own equipment if they have it.

5. Players should work in whatever position they feel is their best position. We will move a player to another position later if we feel it is best for the Rebel Baseball program.

6. Players that make the team will participate in the Vestavia Summer Baseball program which includes a tournament June 8-10 and workouts throughout the summer. Players that play other sports are not expected to be at baseball workouts if they conflict with the other sport.
